Giant
Eagle is a large supermarket chain here in Pittsburgh and to their
high
credit they have a policy of hiring the learning disabled. At
the high season
of Christmas and Hanukkah the tension was dense at the check-out
lines and
one young chap was busy bagging produce that piled up in ever
increasing amounts
at the end of the conveyor belt. As busy as he was he happened
to have caught
sight of his shoelace being untied. This threw the lad into some
distress and
he began to unravel his composure as he continue to bag the groceries.
It was
at this moment that a huge, burly, policeman quietly left his
security post
and knelt down at the lad's feet and tied his shoelace for him.
The radiance
that fired to the face of the lad was a joy to behold as too he
found a couple of
seconds in the dexterity of his bagging to pat the head of our
compassionate
policeman.
