Kindness while hitchhiking
Many years ago when I was in my 20's and bulletproof, I went to Canada with a person I hardly knew. I ended up leaving him and set out to hitchhike back to Spokane, Washington where I lived. My second ride was with a young couple and it was getting dark. They got me to the far side of town then the husband said I can't leave you here and read about a hitchhiker getting killed in the paper. So they turned around, took me home with them, set me up on the couch to sleep. The next morning they fed me breakfast and took me another 50 miles along the way.
