Coolant leak car troubles

I was in a gas station getting a soft drink when an older fellow walked
in with a bucket of water. I noticed he had flight deck boots on and I
mentioned I had a pair just like that while in the Navy. He acknowledged my
comment and asked for help with his car. It turns out he had a pretty bad
coolant leak and he did not have much resource in terms of money or
immediate family in the area. I did not have much time but the poor guy was
looking desperate and I felt for him so I offered to look at his car, upon
further inspection it appeared the water pump was the culprit and it was
leaking pretty bad. He told me he spent the night in his car and he was
also diabetic and would require insulin. I went with him into the grocery
to the ATM and gave him a little money and bought antifreeze along with
some "Bars stop leak" to hopefully alleviate the leaking. We went back
outside to pour the fluids in and the car did seem to not leak as bad. He
drove it back to the gas station were I filled up his tank and he embarked
on his three hour trip back home. He was very appreciative and seemed more
hopeful. I think people would look at his appearance and turn away but if
the shoe were on the other foot I would want someone to help me. People
need a break once in a while and I don't know if he got home but he was in
a predicament and I was glad I could help that poor soul out.
