I worked at a Nursing Home that had assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Some were still able and others were waiting to "go home", which I quickly learned was to their final reward. I was surprised how few ever got visitors, and how many had outlived any money they once had. Every Christmas, someone left hundreds of brand new wrapped gifts (with a detailed note as to what each contained.....sizes, ingredients, description, which made it easy to distribute) for the residents. Those that had stationery also had a roll of stamps. There were warm shawls, robes and slippers, sweaters, cologne, jewelry, food gifts, cash for the food/gift store along with lotions, in short.......things elderly and ill people could use and enjoy. Every gift also included some cash. I believe this was done by one person or family who shopped all year long. Yes, they could have sent a huge ch eck, but it wouldn't have had the personal impact. I can't tell you the grateful tears I was blessed enough to witness. Whoever you are, God Bless You.
