This is an experimental Web page being written by Duen Hsi Yen for a fictitious school.
Malama Learning Facility. Malama is the Hawaiian word for "care," and embodies the ideas of love, sharing, helping, respect, trust, safety, protection, responsibility, discipline, courage, and many, many others, as we shall soon see. In order to learn, a feeling of "Malama" must be established within the classroom environment. With "malamalama" one achieves "clarity of thinking". The Malama Learning Facility is currently an embryonic idea for a "virtual" school using hypertext to teach academic disciplines, social skills and moral values holistically, with a constant awareness and attention to the meaning of malama.
